Ghosting? Weird sound effect happening.

Hi all.

95 E320 sedan. Completely stock.

Sometimes when I am playing my music (or the radio for that mater,) it seems like not all the speakers are playing, but they mostly are. Then, randomly, I get fuller, richer sound with no discernable shift in balance or fore aft sound. Almost as though i've gone from mono sound to stereo, with crisper highs and a fuller more rounded sound.

I play my music off my phone through an FM transmitter. Could it be the problem? Wouldn't explain when it happens on the radio signal though, or would it.

Also, some genres seem to tax the stereo (at loud volumes) and I can almost sense it shuffling power back and forth as it apportions sound between the speakers; almost as though the are each getting a turn at full power.

Am I the only one who senses this?
