European stereo in US car

I am interested in a Mercedes radio that was bought in Germany but am not sure if it will work in my car. The radio's part number is B6 782 3406, off a 2002 model, and my car is an early 99 model year E430. The local Mercedes shop researched that part number and told me it was from a grey market car (figures as the radio came from Germany!) but couldn't/wouldn't tell me if the radio is compatible with my car.

This radio includes a CD player, and I don't want to connect a CD changer.
