Free Radio Codes- Helpful Tool

I disconnected the battery on my 1998 S320 and then had the CODE issue presented. After giving my VIN to two dealers and being given the same five digit code...which did not work, I was confronted with the fact that my installed radio was not the car's original.

I pulled the radio and obtained the Becker model number and serial number which I entered into this free Lithuanian website. BINGO! The radio works!!

Just some free useful info to pass onto others!

Thank you!

I am new to this forum, but just saw your post.

This is really a great tool. I have struggled to get these codes over the years.

Thankyou so much !!! Useful link!

Have been looking for the best part of the day for a code for my Becker.
I lost the code when I replaced the battery.
Have paid money! small amounts (2.99+vat)! For codes that did not work!
Have used many other calcs, and been on too many scummy forums.
when I had nearly given up I found your posting on this sparkling forum!
So I am extremely grateful for that helpful link ..many thanx!!!!

Cheers dears!!

And the strange thing is it works better than it did before, it now searches for radio stations by name, v strange, though I do not have the instruction manual so dont really know what all the functions are.

When I purchased my '89, it had an aftermarket radio, and in an effort to return the car to "original", I purchased a radio out of a '90 (same radio, both years).

A stereo shop swapped out the circuit board so I would have a known code for my radio. I've never lost the code, because I wrote it with a sharpie on the decal under the driver's side visor with the telephone number of the 24-hour roadside service. It is of the form of "extension X-XXXX". Always handy, never lost.

I was unable to get the correct code for my Becker 1492 from the Lithuanian site (it kept wanting to give me a 4-digit code) but my dealer was able to pull up the correct 5-digit code using the radio's serial number. He also noted that the s/n is better than the VIN since the car might not have its original radio.

Yes thank you for the site
Was helpful in getting the code for the stock radio in my 92 500SL to help sell it
I upgraded to a modern radio so I could use USB and also have pre-outs to hook up an amp and small subwoofer

I tried this with 3 versions of the serial #. One including "BE", one without "BE", and on without the model # entirely, just the last 8 digits. The attempt with only the last 8 digits would not process. Both of the other 2 versions produced codes that would not work.

Fortunately, the parts dept. at the dealer I called (MB of El Dorado Hills) was very accommodating with using their program to produce a code from the radio serial #.
