Speaker replacement(1999 ML430)
Good Morning Listers:
I am new to the board, and I had a question related to an audio upgrade on my 1999 ML 430. The car was not equipped with an amplifier, or descent sounding speakers. The system is far less than the system that I had In my W140. I was in need of some literature on how to remove the interior door panels to access the speakers. I also would like to know of the standard radio can have an amplifier added to the current set-up? Happy Holidays, |

The ml door panels remove rather easily removed the trim insert in the handle comes out exposing screws once removed than there are clips that retain the panel, using a door panel tool to release the clips then the panel snaps off. The best recomendation I have is to install some two way seperates in the doors With the tweeters in the top for better imaging. As far as hooking an amp to the stock deck I would say you can but it isn't going to sound great . You need to get a new deck that has 4 or 6 channel line outs to run your amplifier.

Question for Scott(upgrade ML)
Hello Scott:
I had a question regarding to a post that you gave me for speaker upgrades for my ML 430. Basically the sound in my ML sucks compared to my S320. I currently have a base radio, cd changer, and factory speakers. Do you know of any nice aftermarket decks and amplifiers that will work with the existing changer that I have? I would like to upgrade the package, but still keep the changer if possible. Other Posters gave good input, and I was curious is you ever dealt with certain set-up's that sound nice. I would like to get close to the Mark Levinson (Lexus System). I am interested in having a minimum of 4 door speakers and a sub placed somewhere, possibly in the rear by the added amp. From a wiring standpoint, it would be great to have the added amp, and sub located near the current cd changer if possible. |
