Question 400 SEL Speakers

The speakers in my 93 400 SEL started crackling recently and today the sound is completely gone. Can ordinary car stero shops replace, fix or am I asking for trouble? With the electrical problems I've had I don't wan't to add to my headaches.
Thanks,

The problem you are describing is with the factory 7 channel amplifier. It is common to see it in 91 to 93 140 mercedes models. The problem you have is not something most car stereo shops can handle proficently. It calls for a complete amplifier overhaul and it is not easily replaced with other aftermarket equiptment. We have the same model amplifiers in stock already rebuilt and can send you an exchange amplifier. If you want you can e mail my repair shop @ www.lajollaaudio.com or call them at 858-373-0596 and Cleeve would be happy to help you further.
