OK true fit for 86' 300E
OK guys I know there are postings for this subject miles long but it seems like a lot of different fixes. I have a 86' 300E and wanting a 2 way speaker to fit front and rear with out cutting ....
so besides the Rainbow speakers.... what speakers have owners installed that has had a perfect fit with out cutting or much customizing.....

I have put 4 inch 100watt pioneer 2 way speakers in the front of my E280 which work great. I havent got round to my rear shelf speakers yet, but my local ICE shop recommends 5inch bass speakers for the shelf, saying that the well insulated boot would serve as a box. He also said that putting a sub in the boot is a waste of time unless you port it. Am I the only person who cant cut up a merc?

hehe probably not. I had 3 10s in the trunk driven by about 900 watts RMS, and without any porting, the bass sucked. It just made my trunk exhuast vents rattle, and thats about all. I made just 2 holes of about 2-3 inches underneath the carpeting of the med kit area, and now the bass is much better. Not as good as it should be, but I think I will make a larger opening soon, so I don't have to run the amps so hard...
