Hi everybody

I'm not sure if the wire in question is even audio related, but, I am posting here anyway, in hopes that someone may have seen this wire while digging under their dash.

The wire is on a '88 420SEL.

I was taking off the "kneepad" part of the dash under the steeringwheel, when out falls this unusual looking wire.

It is black on the outside, with another white plastic sheatheed wire on the inside. Kind of like a miniature version of a coax cable. The dia is about the thickness of the refill part on a ball point pen. It appears to come (or go) from the upper left hand side of the dash towards the speaker area, and run across to the console (up near the rocker switches)

If anybody has seen this wire before, and knows where it goes... Please tell me.

I'll even entertain a decent guess or two.

It sounds to me like a hands free mic wire left over from a cell phone.(non Stock) I should go up the drivers side pillar if it is.

Thanks for the reply. I will see if I can dig a little without disturbing things too much. The hands-free mike wire going up the pillar is a something I didn't think about.
At first all I could think of when considering cell phones, is the usual necessary wiring... not a remote mike.
