Lights, Sound....Almost
Okay;
Heres a wierd wiring issue. In my 1985 300 SD (126) I installed a Blaupunkt Alaska head unit. I noticed there is constant power to the unit because I can listen to it while the engine is off. I can turn the unit on even without having the key in the ignition. Here's where it gets wierd; with the engine running, if the parking lights and/or headlights are on, and I turn them off, the head unit goes off. ![]() Also, I don't know if its related, but I seem to be constantly blowing the fuse for the little lights behind the toggles on the upper console (rear light, sunroof, antenna, rear defogger). I' m hoping someone can offer a suggestion. Thanks,

check your wiring, something isn't hooke dup right. sounds like you have the illumination wire hooked into the power of the radio to me.
You need 3 main wires to power up the unit, ignition power, constant power for memory, and ground. Double check your wiring, and use a test light to find the right wires. Alon

Ha, reminds me of a blown fuse on my '88 420SEL. The head unit would only work with the door open!
