Hi,
I want to put a 10" sub in the rear deck of my 92 300D under the first aid kit door. Does anybody have pictures of this install? I'm going to put an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 with a 6 inch mounting depth. It requires a .6 cu ft sealed box and I will have to make some kind of enclosure under the rear deck. Has anyone else done this? I saw a pic of the first aid kit lid with a grill incorporated. I'd like to know how that was done too. I don't want to put a big box in the trunk as I actually use it. I could use this sub "free air" but with reduced performance,so I'd prefer not too.

Check out the February 2003 issue or Lowrider magazine for a step by step procedure to port the rear deck of your car. If you simply make grill covers for the empty hole where the first aid kit used to be that will allow your sub to play into your passenger area effortlessly. Those perfect 10s are very potent and you should be able to corner load it in your trunk.

whats best is to just take out the stock deck you must remove the back seat first it is simple and trace the old deck onto a piece of wood and cut a new one that way you dont ruing the car and you can cut the holes for the sub cause the stock deck with the med kick really isnt strong enough and it be a main to rip it apart, oh and if you do build a new deck after everything is cut put dynomatt on the back side to reduce chacne of rattle

Know I just need to know what speakers can go in the other locations. I want to keep this completely stealth. I also would like "drop in" speakers. I have the system with the stock "subs" in the doors. I need to know specifically which make and model fits in each location. Dash, door and rear deck.

The speakers in the front are between a 4 and 5.25" I sell rainbow speakers made in germany that are an exact fit for the 124's and they fit the rear as well. I checked a site with the Rainbow speakers, and they are a nice set of drivers but my budget may have to wait. On another post I saw the grill you made for a W124 in the first aid door for a subwoofer. Does a 10" sub fit under there? I was curious how you did this and how the woofer looked underneath. I want to duplicate this with an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10. Did you top mount the woofer directly on the deck? Did you build an enclosure that mounted to the rear deck under the sub? I want great bass but with as little trunk space loss as possible. Pics would be priceless. I have the "active bass system" in my car so I have that little thumper in the doors. What exact size is that? I'd like to plan a mid bass in that location.

I have the ten inch in the rear deck with ads 325 im speakers in the front dash with an incrediable amount of work, and 325 ims in the rear and a mcintosh 6 channel amplifier running it all. I wouldn't waste the time on the door location as it is behind you and always messes up the front stage. Here is a pic from the top.

Or you can build a box that goes in the passenger footwell. Lots of up front bass, total stealth install as it is under the floor mat and you only lose some passenger legroom. Passengers 5' 10" and under probably won't mind as the 124 has a lot of legroom to begin with.

Just a thought, doesn't the Infinity Basslink have an active 10" with a passive 10" that would bolt up right under the rear deck? I understand it won't make the window glass bulge out with every kick drum beat, but it won't require much of a mod or rolls of dynamat.

Wow! Did you have to cut any metal frame on the rear deck where the 1st aid kit was?

Here is my set up. i used 2 8 subs and built a nice tight box,that still gives me alot of trunk space.

Small box.. is it enough enclosure space? I have 3 a/d/s/ RS-10 that I want to fit in.

I was also considering Infinite baffle... but likely the subs would need to change.

I also have mostly McIntosh Gear... a MC4000M and a MC440M and MEN 456 5-way 4 channel electronic crossover, a MPM4000 Wattage meter unit, and a 6 band 4 channel parametric EQ.

I made a carbon fiber amp racks. One holds the MC4000M 6 channel 4x 100 2x300 watt amp and the other rack holds the MC440M 4 x 50 2x 100 amp with teh MEN 456 and parametric EQ.

I was thinking of mounting the big amp inside the trunk right under the parcel shelf. and mounting the other amp and EQ plate against the gas tank. Possibly making it possible for the top amp to flip down against the gas tank and the other to be on the floor of the trunk for display.

It even allows you to keep your folding head rests!

I sold my car and have the box. I might someday buy another w124 as I think they are some of Mercedes best cars, but it looks like I am buying a Tesla for now.

Selling this amazing box.. I can sell it with speakers or without. It was custom made by Z -Box of Germany and came installed on one of the first w124 AMG Hammers.

What is fantastic is it does not obscure your rear vision, your headrests are intact , and you lose no truck space. The Fiberglas is extremely rigid so it is light weight and will not rattle. Currently it is upholstered in tan, but I can drop it off at the many Mercedes reupholstering places in nearby Costa Mesa to match your car for a very reasonable cost.
