Good and reliable car radio/MP3/CD Player.

Dear friends:

Please recommend a good and reliable car radio/MP3/CD Player for under $150 (please state the model too). Is Clarion any good? Thanks a lot.

Best regards,

Eric

I don't think you will find a CD/MP3 player for under $150. That is even on the low side for a good Radio/CD player. I have a Pioneer DEH-2400F in my 240D and it fits very well and looks good in the car. It is a fantastic, easy to use deck, which I have had for almost a year now.

You might be able to find a few below $150, but most of the cheaper ones seem to hover between there and $200. I'm going to get this one soon: Pioneer DEH-P5500MP.

I bought a Panasonic MP3/CD/Radio new in box from www.returnbuy.com (I think) for $109 about 8 months ago. It has been working just fine in the 240D.

I've gone through about six Pioneer headunits and have really liked them all. Right now I have a P8400MP which plays MP3s and has a nice looking clean face. It may be a little out of your price range but it's definitely worth what I paid. I also have the 5500 in my MG and while it works well, it's really ugly in person (ugly is relative though I guess). It was really cheap when I got it through Amazon a few weeks ago. Good luck with your upgrade. Most of the stuff that's out there is pretty good I think.

I have been thinking about this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2221827&cat=14632&type=19&dept=3944&path=0%3A3944%3A3947%3A96481%3A14632

$90, hard to beat. But testing them I find a background hiss under the "rock" setting in all that I have tested at the stores. It is a true MP3 player with CD.

I vote Pioneere

I bought my Pioneer on eBay and have been very happy with it. It is a "Premium" unit, I think a DEP-3400. I also bought a "Premium" 12 disc CD changer which is mounted inside the spare tire of my 300TD. So I have 13cd's that I can flip through. Plus the sound is terrific.
