Subs in 300 SE?
I decided on going with 1 15" ED e15k over 2 12" subs. I wanted to know how well are these 126's sound insulated? Will I have a major problem with rattles and all or should it be ok? Someone asked the question, since it is all steel frame and one piece it may rattle more. Any truth to that?

Hi Snoopy.
The inside of the cabin is pretty well insulated. But it wouldn't hurt to add a little more. Particularly the doors and panel be hind the rear seat. The trunk on the otherhand is a different matter. There are many area's that can rattle. Trunk lid hinges, licence plate and large flat panels. Extra sounddeadning is always a good idea, unless you drive a Rolls Royce(well damped already) or a Lamborgini(not needed with loud engine) or a convertable(no use). Louis. |

my two 10" JLs don't rattle. there was a small rattle from the interior exhaust vent located behind the bumper on the side, but once that was felted, no more rattle. i haven't found the car to rattle do to the stereo either, it rattles because of the design of the door panels and the headliner. subsequently fixed by painstaking hours of panel removal and insulation/felt installation.
![]() No rattles to be found anymore, its pretty silent for a car of this age. ![]()
