Installing i-pod
I want to hard wire my ipod into my radio...ideally, have a jack on my dash to plug into...I am fairly good with a soldering iron...I have a basic Pioneer receiver...not a pre amp/ amp design...No aux on the rear...Can I accomplish my goal? I DO NOT want to do the wireless transmitter option

Define "good with a soldering iron" since the circuit board on your stereo is pretty cramped, and without a schematic, you're likely to cook an IC.
On another front, Alpine made an annoucement last week that certain headunits will be iPod control capable through a firewire cord connection. The cable will allow the controls on the Alpine unit to replace the iPod's and the iPod's LCD information will be visible on the Alpine's display. There is also a company making the "ice link" cable that connects the iPod to the pre-amp in of certain car stereo systems. |

My partner just got an iPod and for $25 got a transmitter to the radio. It plugs into car outlet.
