Wiring Harness Question
I want to install an Alpine CD Player in my '96 E300. Will this wiring harness work for this application? If so, any tips on the best way to wire it up?
Thanks, Munsey

It looks like the correct one to plug your ISO plug into. Your plug has this configuration (radio pin-outs):
Becker pin outs |

Thanks for the info. Are the front speakers in the dash and the front door speakers all running through the same wire?

I imagine your E class has a BOSE system, in which case the stock HU feeds simply feed 4ch low level imput into the multi channel amplifier in the the trunk, which also contains the frequency crossovers and distributes the right ranges to all the speakers.... how many speakers do you have alltogether?

I actually don't have the Bose System (wish I did). Mine is the base system with the 8-speaker sound system.

you do you have somesort of external amp powering up the speakers, right?
I have a 95 c280 it has a 9 speaker BOSE system (3 sets of speakers and a 6" min subwoofer) but before 96 they didn't label it as BOSE per say on the back of the rear speaker grills... the base speaker in a c class was 4 speakers powered by the HU.... the HU for both BOSE and non BOSE systems in 94-97 M/B (non fiber optic) are the same (either Alpine CM 2294/96 or Becker 1492/1692 depending on year and model... in your case most likely Becker 1492). I cannot be absolutely certain about the setup on your E class without pics, but even if you have an 8 speaker Non BOSE then you must have an amp somewhere (most likely in the left side of the trunk behind the carpet covering) or at least active crossovers... I can't imagine the stock becker powering everything just by itself...

I believe you are correct. I do have the Becker HU and probably the amp you are referring to. I've purchased the wiring harness and will let you guys know how it goes. Hell, the thing only cost $6 so if it doesn't work, oh well.
Thanks again guys. Munsey
