Antennae 1994 E320 Wagon

The Antennae randomly will go down when the radio is on. And sometimes when I try to make it go up by turning on the on/off it will not go up and other times it will. I took it to MB service and they said well it is not doing it now and we did not see anything wrong.
So once the antennae does go up is there way to make it stay up all the time??

A friend told me that the ground may not be wired right is there a way to check that?

Finally is their anything I can do to try to diagnose the problem?

Thanks for all remarks this site is great
Dan

Hello Dan,

At the antennamotor is a plug with 3 pins. I have no wiring diagram at hand right now but I do remember that it is rather straight forward.
One pin provides current to the motor when you put on the radio.
So antenna goes up. The brown wire is the mass and the third one is allways hot even with the key out of the contact. It provides the current for the antenna down.
Once the antenna is up, disconnecting this plug will leave it out. No big deal!
Good luck,

Danny
