Hi
About two weeks ago I took my car through a carwash by mistake turned on the radio. The antenna mast snapped about 1" above the nut (where u would loosen or tighten the mast to the motor). It didn't snap fully off but instead of being vertical, it sat horizontal. No biggie I thought so ordered a new mast from Mercedesshop. When I went to unscrew the mast only the top part of the nut came off, the rest of the thread was stuck inside the motor still. Is there any way I can get the whole mast out? Or do I need to get a new motor? Thanks for any insight, Reny PS I still get most of the reception from the radio. |

The complete head of the antenna will unscrew from the body as there is a set screw to losen. Getting the broken piece out can be very difficult depending if it is corroded or if there isn't much to get ahold of. It sometimes can be removed with a large screw extractor. The other thing you can do is get a junk yard antenna and steal the head from it to put on yours.

see thats the thing.....if looking from the outside
the set screw loosens but a part of the thread is stuck in the motor and there is no way to get that out also the bottom mast won't come out either so my question is...if i can get the whole motor assembly out...do u think i can get the mast out too? i see that mercedesshop sells a new unit for $320......i'm due my tax refund so i'm thinking why not? |
