No sound, driver side speakers, 420SEL
There is no sound coming from the driver side speakers, dash and rear shelf, in 1986, 420SEL.
This audio system is the original and consists of 2 speakers in front and 2 in the rear. There is no balance switch for left and right side balancing, only the "fader" switch on the center console that allows balancing front to rear. When this "fader wheel" is rolled forward, to power only the front speakers, I can hear a small amount of static that occurs momentarily in the left front speaker, and then there is no further noise. When the "fader wheel" is reversed, to power only the rear speakers, there is a small amount of momentary static from the left rear speaker, and then no further noise. If the "fader wheel" remains untouched, both left speakers remain static free and emit no sound. I have no idea where the amplifiers are located, but have been led to believe that each speaker has its separate amp. In researching the archives, I couldn't find evidence of anyone fixing a similiar problem. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, William |
