93 300D....

Engine is Toast as of this just a few minutes ago.

The engine compartment caught on fire but it wasn't on fire for long.

The hood insulation caught on fire after a "runaway diesel" situation.

Car has 300K miles on it.

Transmission is good.

Body is straight. The hood got hot enough for a 1'X1' patch of paint to peel off.

Interior(MB Tex) is in excellent condition.

Tires only have about 6K miles on them.

New battery...only had it two months or so....starter too.

I would assume that the engine would need to be rebuilt at least if it's any good at all.

I'll start at $1000 and consider all serious offers.

I live in Amarillo, TX.

I had recently completed some repairs and in the process I either managed to get the throttle stuck wide open and/or I messed up something with the IP/shut off valve.

806-224-9536

Below is a link to the pics.

Dash is crack-free.

The arm rest is worn out from my long driving hours and my dogs' climbing on/over it.

The dirt you see on the back seats is red mud/clay my dogs got into at the river the day before the incident.

It will all clean up.

The driver's seat has a small spot on the outboard bolster where the vinyl has separated from the cloth backing but it's nothing major.

The air conditioner works, power seats work except for headrest on driver seat, climate control system works, ABS works...no functioning cruise control...sun roof disabled...all gauges work.

The junk you see on the motor in the pic is the burnt hood insulation.

It wasn't on fire for long and it was caused by the turbo getting so hot.

I shut the hood because I didn't want anything blowing up on me.

After the engine died I saw the flames start licking out from under the hood.

Fan shroud melted, small part of the grill, air box melted a bit as did the coolant reservoir(brand new too)...

Flames were only present for about thirty seconds before I extinguished it.

I did notice some vacuum lines had melted as well.

In case you don't know, Amarillo is right on I-40. I literally live a couple hundred yards from I-40.

This was my daily driver right up until I did her in.

Based on how it's acting now when I crank it a mechanically inclined friend suggested that the pistons probably had holes burned in them.

It turns over but it sounds like there is no resistance/compression.

It basically sounds like an engine with holes in the pistons.

I also noticed that some gas is getting rhythmically pushed out the exhaust as I crank it.

It had been wrecked before and they apparently used a non diesel fender.

It got plenty of air as far as I can tell.

I was getting 28-29mpg driving it in windy west texas any way I wanted.

If I don't sell this pretty quick I will be taking her off to the crusher's.

I will also include another transmission core that is rebuildable and another diff pumpkin.

I'm asking $1,000 OBO.

New tires, new battery and new starter plus all the parts still on the car.

It definitely feels like a loss....I already miss her.

However, things change and she must find a new home by next weekend.

I also neglected to add that I have two air filters, two fuel filters, two oil filters, set of brand new front brake pads and a few other miscellaneous parts that will go with the car.

OK, what are you willing to give for it?

Once we agree, I will take it off, clean it up and send you a pic to close the deal.
