Cleaning Door and Seat MB-Tex in w108 280se
Any suggestions on the best product/method to clean the MB-Tex in a w108 280se?
The interior is a light shell colour and as usual with light colours, it could use a clean down in the grain of the MB-Tex. Any suggestions on something to remove the everyday build up? There is not stains or specific residue I need to remove just typical dirt/oil from hands etc Thanks in advance Ed |

MB-TEX is just a fancy vinyl
Any high quality leather cleaner/conditioner is also safe for vinyl. I've heard some great things about Blue Magic's product lately. Haven't tried it yet.

I have had good luck with using a stiff plastic brush and Simple Green MAX. Dunno if the max stuff is sold anymore, though.

If its really dirty (read: pulled out of a salvage yard), good ol fashion simple green works well. Let it sit and get into the texture. Use a brush. Then use vinylx or 303.

Soap and water works well with a stiff brush. So does paint cleaner. Leather cleaner works too, once you lathered it up.

Another thing I've found that works great on MB-Tex (NOT leather) is a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!

I use the plain GOJO or Stalube hand cleaner. Not the citrus or the pumice. Slop it on with a paint brush, let sit for 5 minutes in the shade, a quick scrubby-poo with a soft bristled brush and wipe off the excess with a micro fiber towel. It ain't the greatest smelling stuff in the world but after you are done cleaning, a quick spritz with Febreeze and you're ready to roll.

I second that! Take a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (or store brand generic counterpart) clean your MB-Tex. After that, apply 303 Aerospace Protectant and enjoy!

I pull the seats out and do cleaning on the concrete driveway floor (use a hose), to get the crud out of the seat tracks followed with a seat track lube and back adjustment lube. Then you can clean carpet below the seats.
Pull the back out easily too. Bottom puls up, rear back has two (10mm deep socket) attachments Actually, pull the back out to get to the front hold-down screws. |

I usually use a foaming cleaner on the vinyls followed by some 303 for protection.

I'm yet to tackle the whole interior after trying the Mr Clean Magic eraser. I think I would go through about 20 of them for the whole interior so might have to try some of these other products. Its not that its super dirty but its down in the grain of the TEX so it takes some scrubbing!
Would like to get the seats out one day for a proper clean of the tracks too. what do you lube the seat tracks with? |
