Question cleaning cloth seats

A search didn't turn up much on cleaning cloth seats. I was thinking steam cleaning at one of those places that claims to be able to clean car upolstory. Anyone try that? I sure wouldn't want to screw it up as I already have one German pissed at me cause I was gona get rid of the Euro bumpers.

Have a good day all

Stevo, personally the last time I cleaned my cloth seats I used carpet cleaning solution water and a small nail brush.Make sure you do it on a sunny day to ensure the seats dry out.Bear

Personally, I used a product called blue max from car brite. It is excellent. We also use it at the import shop that I work at when we detail cars.

Do you mean regular cleaning or you have stains to get rid of? For regular cleaning, I use water mixed with Woolite (6 to 1) and a plastic bristled brush. If you want to do a deep cleaning, I suggest a carpet shampoo. I also sprayed on some ScotchGuard when I first got the car and cleaned it.
For stains, what you need to use depends on what made the stain. www.topoftheline.com has a bunch of carpet/upholstery cleaners.

thanks for the help. I will look for some of these products. What I am trying to do is get out some, not too serious, stains then figure out how to keep them clean. The Scotch Guard sounds good. It sounds like some of you folks are fans of cloth seats?? I have never had them and always thought they would be a PIA. So what advantages might they possess? and if you have any more advice on the care and feeding of them I am all ears. I love this car so I need to figure out how to deal with them.

Sorry to be so late in responding. We have family visiting for a while.

Stevo,
I have tried some spray-type cloth/vinyl/etc. cleaners and found that "Tuff Stuff" has outperformed them all!

I couldn't even make a dent in the dirty, stained MBTex seats with some other stuff, so I bought this with no real hope...

Holy Crap! this stuff sat for 30 seconds and almost cleaned itself!
Minimal scrubbing.

SO, I sprayed some on some nasty grease/oil stains on the floormats and presto, came right out. I scrubbed a little with a towel, not a brush, and they are gone! Totally! so I decided to do all the MBTex and all the carpeting...Amazing how it looks so different than when I got it! Super clean!!
(and only $5 bucks for a huge spray can...)

For the stains, what you need depends on what kind of stain it is. If it's a food/organic stain, you need a fabric or carpet stain remover with enzymes in it. If it's grease or oil based, then a stain remover with a degreaser in it.
I love cloth seats. Leather and vinyl are too hot in the summer, too cold in winter, and leather is a pain to clean if you ever spill anything on it. Not only that, but when I autocross, my cloth seats keep me firmly in place while my brother slides around on his leather one.

I second that! My cloth seats have had the tuff stuff treatment and the amount of gunk that gets taken off is amazing.

Tuff stuff works great on cloth, and does not discolour, but on leather, spray on and clean off immediately as it discolour certain leathers. Ask me how I know......
