using a pressure washer with foam canon to wash car.

Just purchased a new westinghouse 3200 PSI pressure washer, foam car wash canon from Harbor Freight and Rain-X foaming car wash. It was cool temps here this evening so I decided to give it a go.

I read the pressure washer instruction manual twice before beginning and yet I still got the fuel supply lever and choke lever mixed up (my bad!). Once I overcame "operator error", I was in business. I used a good amount of the Rain-X foaming car wash in the Harbor Freight foam canon although it didn't seem to suds up very well but I may not have followed the instructions correctly.

I used what has been a nice expanding garden hose I purchased from amazon.com to connect to the pressure washer. This hose has worked very well for the past two years. Unfortunately, when I went to unscrew it from the pressure washer, the cut-off valve broke off!

In the over 15 years of being an amazon.com customer I have never left a negative review and yet amazon.com has chosen to restrict my account to leaving no reviews! Because of that I am unable to communicate with the seller of the garden hose which means I am going to purchase a new garden hose locally. Amazon.com lost yet another sale and they have lost my trust as a customer.

I am going to use some Sam's Club purple degreaser to soak the engine, top, sides and bottom and the transmission to clean off a good build up of diesel oil and who knows what else. I have a special 90 degree pressure washer spray attachment I will use to get under the car. Before I begin the washing I will cover the starter and alternator with large freezer bags using rubber bands to secure them and will stuff a rag into the air intake to keep water out of the engine during the pressure washing. Since the pressure washer is 3200 PSI, I am going to take it easy and not over do it.

I would really like to use a professional grade steam cleaner to clean the engine compartment and transmission but, alas, it is not in the budget so the pressure washer will have to do for now. It is tough living in these inflationary times for those of us with limited funds.

The local car wash is owned by a real S.O.B. so I am really enjoying not having to give him money to wash the car!
