Meguiar's Wax - HARD to get off!

I just put an on an application of Meguiar's "Cleaner Wax". Started to just do the hood but got excited and did the whole car.

Man, I have never worked so hard to remove wax from a finish! I still am not through after about an hour and a half. It is almost like I rubbed the car with a candle. I considered washing the car again to get off the remainder. Maybe it will last a long time since it is so hard to remove the excess, but I don't know if it's worth it.

I'm even thinking about "returning the unused portion for a full refund". The "Cleaner Wax" was the $4.99 selection. Maybe if I had chosen a more expensive line it would have been easier to remove.

Meguiar's cleaner wax can be hard to remove if you use too much wax and / or if you apply it in direct sun.

Remember, applying wax is just like painting a house: apply it thin.

Or, as my dad used to say, "thin to win".

Maybe I used too much. I definitely did not apply in the sunlight or on a warm surface. I'll try a thinner coat next time.

Certainly apply in small areas, a thin layer and use the orbital polisher which makes the process much easier.

I find the best thing to remove wax is and old pair of insulated underwear. Thats if you live in the cold North and have them.
Keep turning the cloth and shake it out.

95E320cab, When that happens, just apply a little more wax on a difficult area and wipe off immediately.
enjoy your drive, timreid

Did you apply to one small section than wipe off??? You don't do the whole car at one time, than wipe off. Do a Section at a time, and like previously mentioned not in the sun or hot surface. I have used it with no problem using it like I said.....

Yeah, I did the whole car at once. Guess I should have taken it off quicker.

I learned my lesson too. You just have to remove the wax soon after it is applied, so you just do a section at a time. I used to do the whole car and then what a job to get that wax off. If you just apply one section ahead then go back to remove the wax from the previous section it really is very easy to wax the car. I sure am glad I learned my lesson, because now it is really very easy to wax the car and it sure does shine.

I found this to be true with all brands of wax that I have tried. I am sure it is not unique to Maguires.

BTW, timreid is right. If you wait too long, because a beautiful women can't wait for some affection after seeing your beautiful car, then you just re-apply the wax to loosen up the hard dried on wax.

Good luck with that shine.

You guys really should listen to Early Bird.

I have seen his 300CE. He has even polished the aluminum top of his radiator and even his motor mounts!

Yes, that is no typo. His motor mounts are polished.

After 2 six-packs, I don't care what my car or women look like.
