I need a good list...

Alright guys,

I have two cars for sale that I need to clean up reeeaaal nice. I have a beutiful 1989 Jaguar XJS (Red) with 33,000 original miles on it and a 1992 190E 2.6 (White).

I need to make these cars shine and shimmer like no other. I am willing to invest about 10 hours of exterior detailing work in each vehicle. I have my lovely old 220Diesel that I can practice my technique on before moving on to the cars for sale.

So I need some serious advice. I need to buy ALL the products for detailing these cars (I have nothing ... well, mabye a bucket). I want to learn to use an orbital buffer, so I plan on picking one of these up too.

What should I get? I need advice on a good buffer, car wash, a polish, clay treatments, multi-layer wax, glass cleaners, chrome polish, cleaning instruments, towels, etc. I want to learn to detail like a master. I will also take advice on any helpful books or websites on the matter.

If possible, I would like to order online and use only the best products available.

Thanks so much...

This link should get you started - The best senario is to have someone (experienced) work with you on a car. Working with buffers orbital or high speed, you need to get a feel for what is happening. There are thousand of different products (and opinions) that go with them. It's the old Ford and Chevy argument. Find products that you like and work well for you. Here in Central TX we have a group and routinely detail each others and friends cars on appropriate weekends - and are always trying new products. Some work and some are just snake oil. I share with you one trick that we have not deviated from when using an orbital buffer. After washing/compounding car and you are ready to wax. Mix (you choice) of liquid wax (couple of good squirts) with 3 cups of hot water. Using a cloth go over the car and allow to dry/haze up. Then go over with buffer. This allows you to put many light coats of wax on the vehicle instead of working with one heavy coat.
Need more ideas - write me

Rad!

Thanks for the reply!

I went to Autopoia and checked the products and guides. I am going to be ordering the Perfect Shine kit and Glide, Block and Waffle claying kit. I will also buy an orbital buffer, buffing pads, and some microfiber towels.

I am pretty excited about the Klasse polymer base sealer with professional carnuba on top. After 5 coats it should make these cars look like new.

Thanks, I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
