95 OM606 fuel milage
I've been doing lots of driving lately and my mixed hwy/city fuel milage shows as 8.4 L/100 km or 28 MPG US. The hwy speeds were bet 110-140 km/h.
BTW the car that we own has a 90L fuel tank as opposed to the 70L tank that the car's manual displays. |

milare
I have gottemn up to 41 mpg with my E300d; Highway 55 MPH. 28-34 mpg is routine at 70-80 mph. Type of fuel (enegry content ) is also important.

As for fuel, I use "Gold Diesel" and I put a bottle of STP diesel injector cleaner.

I have a fairly heavy size 17 foot…
And I drive pretty hard. I get 28 MPG consistently, with combined city & highway driving.

Maybe you should try a different injector cleaner, such as Lubro-Moly diesel purge, and Lubro-Moly diesel Hi-Test. I have used both of these products for over ten years now, and rate them as EXCELLENT. I don't know if you can buy these in Canada, but it's worth a shot. There is a chance that the STP stuff you are using is not cleaning your injectors as well as they need to be....
![]() Also forgot to mention to check for bad injectors and injection-pump timing. While you are under the hood pull off the intake manifold, and clean out all the CRUD that has built up inside of it via EGR valve. Your problem could be as simple as a blocked intake manifold. I would start there FIRST (at least you have not spent a ton of $$$, and helped prevent some other problem down the road).... Just a thought Good Luck

e300d mileage
95 e300d 133k. Northern VA.
32.5 mpg during recent 500 mile trip (all with a/c on). Wife drove it so it was at or below speed limit of 65. 28-30 mpg rest of the time with daily 60 mile DC/Northern VA commute with wife and daughter with air always on and a bit of a heavy foot. Interesting to see virtualdoc getting 41 mpg. |

1995 E300D, 167K miles. 30 - 31 MPG in a mostly highway commute with A/C on. I had an identical car previously with similar mileage, which did 33 - 34 MPG. I have not figured out the difference.
I'm impressed at 41 MPG also. Hard to believe. BTW, AFAIK all 1995 E300D's have the 90 liter fuel tank. Only other W124 with this tank is the 500E/E500. Rgds, Chris W. |

I get 32mpg consistently going back and forth to work. First part of the trip (25 miles) is at 65/70mph. Second part of the trip (15 miles) is in stop and go traffic. I get 35+ mpg on long trips with interstate driving.
IMHO the 95 E300D is under appreciated. Not the fastest car on the road but not bad for a diesel. Wonderful brakes too. I really like the big fuel tank and range between fill ups. I bought mine with 86K miles in 2002. Since then I've put 50K miles on the car...it's been great and only let me down once in the bitter cold (4 degrees outside and the fuel gelled, now I know to add the additive!). Since I've owned the car I've done the brakes ($1K), shocks/struts ($1K), and rehabed the rear suspension links, ball joints and control arm bushings ($1800), tires ($500) and the usual oil/filter changes. |
