How difficult is it to change to manual from an automatic ?

Hey...

Wondering how difficult and how long it would take to achieve such a task ? I saw a couple of detailed threads on that subject but it did not say how long it would take. I can get my hands on a car that has been sitting for 7 years that is exactly like mine except a manual.

Thanks

We don't know how fast you work....
but having an exact whole car that matches yours is the best of all possible worlds...

Are you on vacation?

You will need to pull engine and tranny, swap complete if you can, else you need to change the flywheel or modify it to match (auto to manual is easy, I believe you only need the pilot bearing, manny to auto is a pain). Clutch pedal and master cylinder will need to be hung on the pivots (already there, I believe), the hole for the clutch line is already in the floor with a plug in it.

you will need to change the driveshaft, I believe, since the manny tranny is somewhat shorter than the auto. Else a direct swap.

you will need to swipe the shifter, too.

I have a manual shift 300D and if it were an automatic I would not bother to convert. You would be doing this project for the exercise and not for the results. Just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Drive your car like it is and enjoy it. When you want another car, buy one like you want. If your transmission were broke and you needed another, that may be different.

Hello from the Hard Drive Cafe on the shore of Moosehead Lake in Greenville, ME. And yes I am driving the 300D, up from Mobile, AL.
