W115 240D, will engine for auto fit manual?

Hello, I'm a new member, proud/confused owner of a 1974 240D manual trans with seized engine. I've never owned a diesel anything before. The body is pretty decent, too decent to part out or scrap it without at least trying to resurrect it. I tried a seach for this info but didn't find anything.

I have located a used engine from a car with an automatic trans, and am wondering if this engine can be used in a manual transmission car. Is it just a matter of bolting up the flywheel? Any balance issues, or other things to look out for?

Thanks for any help you can give!
