Prechamber tool

I've read previous discussions about diesel nailing and removing prechambers on 603 engines.I've located #3 cylinder as the culprit replaced all the injectors and the problem is worse.Living in Australia it is impossible to buy any MB tooling.Im after a prechamber removal tool which is a multi splined affair. Also living in Aust precludes turbo Diesel motors so we get the asthmatic version of your 603.My question; is the prechamber securing ring the same diameter on either engine.Would anyone be kind enough to measure the dia of said tool.Elora tools make them but i dont know if same dia.Regards Steve.

Have you replaced the delivery valve seals? You need a special tool for the delivery valve holders but it's not nearly as special as the prechamber socket and slide hammer set.

The delivery valves are on the IP right where the injector lines connect. Bad seals can cause nailing and rough idle.

The tools will be the same for turbo or non-turbo. If you have the inclined/angled injection (mostly after about 1989), you need the tool to remove the splined lock ring. The older vertical injection setups used a 'pin wrench' with two tabs that fit into the lock ring. THEN, you need the slide hammer & adapter to beat the prechamber out. The pair can be purchased for less than $200 USD, plus shipping across the pond to you.

That is, unless delivery valve seals are the problem. The tool for that is something like $20 USD at dealers here - no idea what it would cost Down Under.

Sixto is this true for 617's too or only the 603's.

Thanx in advance
