Question Odometer sticks

My odometer and trip odometer starting sticking, will roll along fine for 5 - 6 miles then stop. The speedometer is a little bouncy under 10mph, but works well other than the bounce. When the odometers stop it has no effect on the speedometer. Is it dirty/broken, and can it be fixed? I pulled my instrument cluster and replaced the dimmer rheostat, what fun, but did not/could not pull it out enough to check odometers. The problem was there before I removed the cluster. For once I did not induce one problem while repairing another.....

If this is on a W123...

it's pretty common, and a search of the threads will show a "home remedy" designed to get the odo rolling again. I've also had the speedo / odo units rebuilt through my mechanic (using a firm from Texas), which runs under $200 and takes about two weeks.

Just "Renewed" the instrument panel, lights and gauges and odometer

Home again. Clocked another 4350 miles on the Benz. 31° Latitude to 45° and back.

Or if you want I'll send you 5 odo/speedometers including shipping for $200, details on how to install them and pull the cluster
