190D starter problem
Hi all,
I'm pretty new around here. Been lurking for awhile. I recently bought a 1984 190D (auto) with a bad tranny. The previous owner tried to pull the tranny out, then realized that he was in over his head when he couldn't get it past the tranny tunnel. So he just abandoned it. This weekend I've been finishing the job of getting it out.
I haven't had a chance to hear it run, but I have a written guarantee from the P.O. that it will. Before I dump money into repairs I'd like to confirm that it does run well enough to make it worth my time. I have the starter bolted back in, and the starter/inhibitor switch connected and in the Park/Neutral position, but now the starter won't fire and the glow plug light doesn't come on. before I pulled the tranny, the starter wasn't mounted, but when the key was turned you could hear the solenoid and it would spin free...now nothing. Any ideas of what it could be now?
Any suggestions would help. Thanks
Drew
