Cool W124 Dash Removal

I am going to tackle changing the climate control vacuum pods on my '87 300DT. Does anyone have discription on how to remove the dash on this car? I have two of the shop manuals from Mercedes but they don't contain this information. I do have the information on where to find the vacuum pods and how to change them.

Do a search. It's here. If I recall correctly GSXR wrote one up and has photos posted. You'll find links on some of his posts.

Thanks. I have done a few searches. I could not find the information. I do remember seeing it before about a year ago with good pictures. I'll look again.

Photos of the project are here:

And yes, I did post a writeup on this forum - if you can't find it with the search tool, let me know and I'll dig up the URL.

Thanks to everyone for the information. gsxr, I did look through the photographs on your site. It looks like you have done a lot of different projects on your cars.

The links on the shop manual site don't work. This same manual is linked to through a couple of different sites. Only a few of the actual shop manual links work to click on. I guess whoever posted it either hasn't completed their work, doesn't intend to, or ???. I know that if this is from the Mercedes sets of shop manuals it is probably copyrighted material.

Still, I wish I had accesss to the actual shop manual write-up for removing and installing the dash.

Also, if I wish to purchase a new dash does anyone know if they are still available?

You can probably still get a new dash but you won't like the price. A good used dash from a later model is a good substitute if your old one is cracked. Oh, if you need a copy of the factory manuals, drop me an email...
