Heater flaps 1984 300SD
I finnaly figured out why I do not get heat to the floor nozzles on my olMB
The vent flaps are disconnected and stay closed. Seems like a lever of sorts hangs near them and is not connected to the doors. THese are the flaps "inside" the center console, behind the radio. They look impossible to work on and must involve some serious surgery. Am I correct or just missing something. Hopeful but with cold feet |

The lever should connect to a vacuum servo. Take a look and see if there is a servo sitting just out of sight on the heater box minus a connection. Lever just snaps on with a plastic fitting to the servo.
If there is a loose vac line in there, no servo, you need a replacement. In the mean time, you can get heat to the floor by pulling the lever into the position where air comes out, but you will get air there in all modes includign defrost. Peter

I had the same problem, and did as psfred suggested.
I used a screw to hold the lever permanently in place and blow air to my feet at all times (whenever the blower is on). My next step is to figure out the way to do the same thing to the center vents. At least the center vents have the dial to close them.

My center vents worked at one time as well. I too would like to be able to have air flow out of these. My understanding is that MB designed the center vents to work only in a few of the modes, but mine do not work now.
