Question Noise from the torque converter--I think?

Hello everyone.

For about the past three months, I've had a strange clanging noise when setting at idle. It hasn't seemed to affect anything , but it is really annoying. It seems to be coming from the torque converter. Is that even possible? Would anything in the torque converter clang? Could changing the transmission mount help possibly? I don't know; I'm at a real loss here. Any ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated.

There is a bracket that attaches to the transmission bell housing that supports the exhaust pipe. If it breaks or is loose, it can produce symptoms consistent with those that you described.

I think we might have a winner! I can't wait to get underneath the car tommorow and see if that's it. I just noticed today when I was under the car that the middle stretch of exhaust pipe seemed to be pretty loose. I'll post my results. Thank you tangofox.
