Vacuum lines on valve cover
Hey, just popped my 300sd hood. The vacuum lines into the black 5 holed input on the valve cover were loose and about to fall out. The one from the temp sensor or water pump was ok. The egr line was ok. But what do those other two lines do and which holes are they suppose to go into since they had fallen out and what problem might be casued if they are loose? Help!

Join the 2 loose lines together with a vacuum hose. These hoses loose will cause a vacuum leak that affects shifting. The other lines run the EGR which you are better off just disconnecting, IMHO. The temp sender and 2 valves on the valve cover all do the EGR. Pull a vacuum on the EGR with a mitivac or equiv, look at the valve stem. It should move. If it does you can leave it like that, if it's stuck, you should fix it.
