I'm having an extremely bad day

Was all excited to get some new injectors from TomJ(first contacted him about them on 11-18-04). Apparently he lost my emails and forgot that he and I had some correspondence on the subject, as a result of the mixup I now am out $200 (183 for the injectors=+15 for express mail and insurance, PayPal has been fraudulent in the past so I don't use it). I have tried emailing TomJ through this forum and through his business to no avail. I have been very polite, BTW. Now he tells everyone he's sold out. Great. Now I have to go and cancel the Postal Money Order I had overnighted to him and file a claim and wait 60 days to get my $200 back. Compound this with the fact that I can't track my shipment, the number is not recognized. Great, now it's lost.

Bought a set of w123 headlight bezels off eBay a week ago from Potomac German Auto in Frederick, MD. 'Pat' told me I should get them the next day, since I'm less than 100 miles away. Haven't gotten them yet. Emailed 'Pat' and he said he'd look into it ASAP. No word yet. More BS to deal with there.

Went to the bagel shop and got a couple of bagels. First, she didn't put cream cheese on them like I asked her to. Then, she overcharged me.

It has gotten to the point where I just can't win. I always make a point to be nice to people but I do believe today I'm gonna stomp somebody 'till their guts come out their ass.

Things get better.

But I know those kind of days....

I always use a credit card with Paypal........Paypal may be less than worthless when you get screwed, but your credit card company will bring out the heavy weapons in your defense.......I've had it happen twice......

As far as the rest.......I know what you mean.....crap comes in waves not little chunks.... soon it will pass.

BrierS 12-09-2004 01:21 PM

If you haven't already stomped someone's guts out their ass, think about this. Your letter and bad luck has touched several of your friends on this forum and we can offer thoughts of understanding for your plight. Many of us have been in similar situations. At the same time, for those of us not having a great day also, reading your last sentence changed my day to a belly felt laugh. Re-read that sentence. It certainly changed my mood and I hope it does yours. Don't wait until tomorrow for it to be better. Think better now . . .

Hey man... I usually consider myself pretty internet/computer savvy, but how in the h*ck do I configure Paypal to use a credit card again? Ever since I linked it to my bank account, I can't figure out how to unlink it.

dmorrison 12-09-2004 01:22 PM

Yes always us a credit card with all purchases not locally. It helps you if a problem comes up.

Your having a bad day, step back take a deep breath and try to relaxe. Try to recognize those days that you just can't get things done.

Your alive, heathy and dirve a Mercedes. Is it really that bad :sun_smile

Every time you make a purchase you change funding sources to the credit card, its Default to direct transfer. You can't change it permanent.....you have to do it each time.....You will have an Echeck otion, direct transferr or credit card option, but you must click on the change funding source or something that sounds like that every time you processes a paypal payment.

What a major drag!
Credit card is the way to go these days.
Hope your day gets better, do something nice for yourself.
BTW, what is the deal with Paypal?
What should we watch out for?

tomm9298 12-09-2004 01:38 PM

PayPal

As with ALL internet transactions, use a credit card ONLY!!!! Not a debit card, most banks offer NO protection on those. :(

Tirebiter 12-09-2004 01:41 PM

As crappy as things may seem

Every day above ground is a good day.

You said it. My Mom died last year around this time. She was only 62.

It's gray outside and I ain't got no hope of getting any new injectors no matter how bad I may need them, but I shall have to persevere and try to get happy. It's just a couple hundred bucks. I think about my Mom and these stupid little problems don't even register.
One of the many reasons I looked for a car like this is because Mom wanted one back in the day. It was her favorite. Of course I liked them too. I now realize that to have one you have to go through hell, basically. Don't know if it's all worth it. Got a trunk full of new parts that I am going to use for my rust-free 1985 300D and when they're all installed, I may then decide to give it the best lovin' wax job I can and then pass this nice car on to somebody who can deal with the frustration of owning it.

No wonder they're so cheap. They're cursed!

leathermang 12-09-2004 02:45 PM

If he mails you the US postal Money order back to you...
then you can just go cash it... so you will only be out the .90 it cost to get it...
Only if he won't mail it will you have to wait ....
Either the person who bought it can cash it... or the other person listed on it..

I don't give my credit card info to people I don't know........this allows me to keep that info confidential....

Today is postponed due to lack of interest. :P
Today is rescheduled for tomorrow, unless yesterday lodges a protest again, then it will be sent to committee for resolution. :mickey:

phidauex 12-09-2004 03:06 PM

I hope everything works out for the better, especially with the monetary thing. TomJ seems like a good guy, hopefully you get a good resolution with him.

And the bagel thing just sucks... Sometimes a bunch of bad stuff can happen and you just roll with the punches, and then some little thing happens and its just the straw that breaks your back...

Today I finally got new glass in the front and rear of my wagon (I've been driving around for a week in the rain with the cardboard that the guy put up when he removed the old rear window and then realized he had the wrong gasket). I go out to check it out and the glass looks great, but somehow they have lost the rear wiper arm, and the guy who took it off last week is on vacation till next week, and I've got to drive 1000 miles on Saturday, and I'm wondering how friggen hard it is to change a window without loosing the damn wiper arms.

So.. I feel your pain. Things will be all better soon..

peace,
sam

I've only used PayPal twice, Once to order Prestige Magazine, and once for an MB service manual CD!

Never got the 6 a year mags from Prestige, never got the CD  ....Loss:$36

When I made an inqury, they had no records, and I didn't copy a receipt like a fool! :( So I've not a leg to stand on, so I chaulked it up to my ignorance for not getting a receipt.....but I'll never do business with  PayPal either! ............ :sun_smile BB

Either that or just live with an unverified account. I personally don't want paypal having my checking account number. I've heard stories.. although they were probably bogus, of paypal seizing someones paypal account and bank account over a dispute. I also don't let money sit in paypal.

I strongly agree. I'll live with an unverified account forever, no matter how many e-mail addresses I have to obtain. I've got three of them already and am still on my first $2K.

d.delano 12-09-2004 11:11 PM

Doh!!!

I just wanted to add that.

Sheesh, sounds like my typical days. It's just the universe testing you.

If I'd known you needed injectors THAT bad (and had spent the $'s on a postal MO and postage), I'd just FIND some German nozzles somewhere and build you a set.

If the MO comes and you still want the injectors, I'll build you a set one way or another. Am thinking of turning the 300D I just bought for $300 (good body, rebuilt suspension, great interior, bad motor) into a parts car and could use those nozzles to build a set from if they're good. Take a breather for a day and I'll LYK what I can come up with.

Would have answered sooner, but was at grimgaunt's house working on the 300D, a 300SD and two Jeeps (he lives 2 hours away - at least in a 240 hauling a truck transmission, two heavy tool bags, a spare battery, truck flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and a partridge in a pear tree.)

We'll probably be heading to Missouri (another planned trip that may or may not happen) on Sat, but will be back Sunday and get a set of injectors done for you.

There. Now your day should be looking better.

fang 12-10-2004 12:07 AM

Hope your day improved,

you sure improved mine. I sat at my computer and laughed so hard i couldn't keep the spit in my mouth, my wife heard the comotion, came busting in and asked me if I was having a breathing problems (I was) or a heart attack (I wasn't). After I got myself back under control she told me I was crazy (maybe) and stomped back off to the kitchen. Word of advice, just keep pluggin' and things will eventually turn................

kamil 12-10-2004 12:09 AM

what is the difference if you have an unverified account ?

what can and can't you do ?

Benster Tom 12-10-2004 12:15 AM

DD you had a bad half of a day. Hope the rest was good. I've seen days like that, we all have, and i'm sure there'll be more. I haven't had any bad luck with paypal yet. I try not to use it much. I just hope I don't have to stop someone's guts out there A--. My son did that to another boy at baseball field house the other day, but he deserved it.

JimmyL 12-10-2004 12:17 AM

I'm not shilling for paypal, but I've never had a problem. Only bought stuff, never sold anything. maybe that's why my garage is exploding at the seams...

Dude you are the man. You are the baddest mutha in the known universe. You got to be the nicest guy after enduring my obsessive BS. Sorry about all that, heheh.
So in closing I'd like to say this: TomJ you're a badass, super-nice dude and I'm just happy to be here.

That's why most of us are here in the first place. We're obsessive about our cars and quality. You're no different than I in that regards. Most here have had to endure my continueing whining about getting screwed out of my ebay account by bigbabbo and they just put up with it because we all are that way sometimes here. It's what makes us the same.
