Turbo Gauge

Who has a turbo gauge in their car ?
I need one for my 300sd but i need one that will fitt with the inside
where did you guys put it ?
what brand ?

In my humble opinion every car equiped witha turbo should come out of the factory with a boost gauge

In a week or so when I have time I'm going to remove my ash tray assembly, and in its place I'm mounting a panel to hold the three gauges I got, Voltage, Boost, and Oil Temp, they'll all mount perfectly in that spot, and they're all matching and backlit, its pretty neat, plus I can see every single vital sign of my car, which is awesome.

I modified the vacuum "economy" gauge from a gasser to operate on boost pressure. In between the needle posts, it's adjusted to read from 5 to 16 psi, which is all I need for a stock turbo configuration. I'm installing a pyrometer in the ashtray.

No reason to run a boost gauge with a vacuum range on it unless you get it cheap. Both Isspro and VDO make 0-15psi gauges that look nice. Try www.egauges.com RT

Yeah Vac is pretty useless unless you are running the "custom intake" with added mud/dirt/oil/grease/snot/etc. blockages

My gauge reads 0-30psi and the pyro I have goes to 1800F...
vwbunge the mounting in your setup is good but I was thinking about it have two problems with that for me..
1) my legs would probably hit the gauge...espically with the way I drive :-D
2) its sorta hard to see without taking eyes off the road

I may still end up doing this if I cannot find what I want...in all honestly a pilliar pod=no no for me...

I guess I could mount the off to the side on the dash..

But my dash pad is so pristine

The search continues

Similar but not quite the same...

When I only had boost gauge I installed it here:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/kolja1/Mersukuvat1/Mittaristo.jpg

Good place, easy to read fast and looks good. Don't have to make holes to dashbourd when you attach it to speaker grating.

Well, now I need more gauges, and I have installed the extra ones on top of the dashboard:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/kolja1/Mersukuvat5/kojelauta.jpg

I only use Autometer gauges, and oil temperatures I measure with SPA dual digital gauge, really good ones both of them.

In case you are wondering, the gauges are: far left water temperature, next to the right SPA dual gauge for engine - and transmission oil temperature, 2.5 kg/cm3 Boost gauge and far right Oil Pressure.

It looks little messy, but I will fix the wires and hoses after the winter.

First of all, the gauge must be easy to read, everything else comes after that. When you are doing 150 mph and you are interested about you boost, there is no time to look down.

Mauri, have you measured the temp drop through the intercooler, e.g. by placing temp sensors at both the inlet and outlet? I was thinking about setting up a dual range gauge just for this function, as it can indicate whether my rather small (30" x 6" x 3") intercooler is becoming heat soaked, especially while driving through the mountains.
