Interesting... the carfax showed the car as imported in 1986 and then having only 16,000 miles in 1996... Sounds a little too scary IMO.

Does anyone else think it is wierd that a 5 speed manual does not have a tach but all of our automatics do?

Yeah... good point. I wonder why it doesn't have a tach?

Not only does it not have a tach..
It only has tick marks on the speedo for a 4 speed
Is 5th just assumed a "whenever" gear?
That was an interesting deal though...I like the looks of that car
I am not about to toss my 617 out the window but the greg on black is a personal fav

If it makes you feel any better this car likely is naturally aspirated. I think the turbo 603 was mostly if not entirely sold in the USA.

That one sure could have followed me home. If someone here bought it they were smart not to post it here ahead of time. It may have sold for a little more in this crowd, it at least would have gotten drooled on a little more.

Probably had the instrument cluster swapped in from a U.S. car when it was imported, as was usually done with gray-market cars. Don't 260Es and 300E 2.6/2.8s have a clock and no tach, too?

Another weird thing: ACC! Every other non-US-spec W124 I've seen pictures of has had the manual climate control with the two big dials.

Notice that the importer also swapped in the DOT headlights and removed the Euro headlight wipers. Funny thing is they plugged up the wiper holes instead of replacing the panels, just like the more frugal among us do when changing over to Euro lights! Pretty cheap job if you ask me, but I've never seen a gray-market car that wasn't all hacked up by the DOT converters.

I wouldn't get too worked up over missing this one. Yes, the manual is nice, but you can convert any W124 to manual if you have the $$$.
