What 126 models came with stick shift?

Just scored a 300D manual flywheel...............May pick up a W126 300SD with a weak transmission.....was thinking about a stick shift conversion. Any models with sticks to get pedal assemblies, master cylinder etc?

Only ones I've ever heard that got sticks were the euro 380SE's. Only ever seen one in the US...
A lot of the W123 manny stuff might bol up w/ little or no mods....

I say go for it!

I don't think the S class ever had a stick shift. Maybe a 280SEL came with one stock? I was told with the base S280's you could get a stick.

Having never seen either pedal assy out of either car would a 123 pedal assy (240D) be able to be modified to fit into a 126 chassis....if not why.

Might have a lead on a 5 speed tranny.

I saw pics of a 260SE or 260SEL with a manual transmission. It was being used as a taxi somewhere. The U.S never saw the 260's.

If I spent enough time in some junkyards maybe I could find an alternative that could be modified to work.......safely.

Carson356:
Really? I've driven a euro 380SE manny....hmmm...Maybe it was a frankenstein too.. Drove like a dream though!

They also had a manny for some of the euro 380SL's (107s), so those 5-speeds might bolt up, maybe w/ a little effort, to a 617....
