Saw another forum member yesterday

I was going into the Sears store in Media Center in Burbank to raid their tool department when I saw a very nice 300SD parked out front. No body dings, nice paint, nice interior, no cracks in the dash or wood..... stunning. So I hung out and finished my cigar hoping some little old lady would come out and let me buy it from her.

No such luck but the guy that owned it told me it was a 1980 with only 120,000 miles on it. I asked if he knew about this forum and he said he was already a member. Small world, eh?

Ever bump into another member out there?

Nice car Dude.

I either saw another forum member, or someone who should be a forum member- his car was beautiful!

I was on the bay bridge maybe a month ago, heading towards the city. I was waiting in line before the toll booth, and a lane over about 5 cars ahead I caught a glimpse of the rear of another W123 300DT..... but it caught my eye esp. beacuse it was Midnight blue and SUPER shiny. So after I made it through the toll, I eventually caught up with the midnite 300DT flooded in a sea of heavy traffic right before Treasure Island, and I rode about a car and a half lengths behind and to the left of him for thhe rest of the bridge, and then his passengers looked back at me and smiled and waved and I honked and waved, and merged to the left hand side of the bridge for my exit.

I remember back in June or July talking to other Bay Area MBShop Dieselers on here in organizing a meet; I couldnt make it. But after they posted pics of the meet, there were either 2 or 3 very nice looking midnite 300DTs there... so maybe the one I saw on the bridge was indeed a forum members ride.

At any rate, its cool to see that there are other people out there who appreciate these cars!

Your info says SFO and Davis. Do you run that as a commute? I saw a nice Orient Red '123 a few months ago one weekday morning. I usually give nice examples a light-honk, but I was driving an an anonomous blue Ford pick-up at the time.

I am not sure if I saw a forum member or just a chill 200D driver the other day.
It was on Barbur Blv. Northbound into Portland near Twiliger Curve area..
Was brown and lightly smoking but it was a diesel and it was a benz
The guy waved and I gave him a thums up, then let the turbo roar away up the hill

Was it any of you guys?

BTW I was driving my Tan 300SD w126 with a Search and Rescue Sticker on the trunk lid.

I remember once, I met some members of MSShop once. There were lots of these diesel MBs in a parking lot, and a gasser. Oh, wait, that was the Houston meet at Tom Bass Park. Well, here's a solution to knowing whether or not the person you're meeting really is a MSShop member. There's small logo stickers we could put on the rear window. Or, badges, whatever happened to the badge deal? One day, it was big news, then kaput : No more talk of it.

I feel the urge to do that all the time, but never do for fear I'll just creep someone out. A lot of the people around my hometown who drive beautiful 123s/126s/124s tend to be wealthy, old-money folk, and I think they'd just wonder why some strange young woman in a semi-modern Benz with rust patches is honking at them.

Have been a few times where I'll pull up to a light next to a classic Benz and give a smile or a thumbs up ... usually get the same back.

I figure there are so many people on this forum, I have probably seen other members before and not had any idea. Sometimes when I see very well-groomed specimens, I have to wonder!

Well I am single, and wouldn't necessarily mind a strange young woman honking at me. By the way I meant light-honk in the context of "licht-hupe" which is German for "light horn": Flashing headlamps.
