w123 300cd Overheated! Damage?

I am looking at a 1982 300cd to buy, for 1000-1500 dollars. It comes with 2 part cars worth of 300d parts, an extra transmission, and a whole lot of other goodies, uncracked dashes, etc etc. The paint still shines, sunroof works, no dents, 150k miles, pretty good condition. However, a little while ago, the car was sitting at idle and then the radiator hose broke, spilling the antifreeze. The car sat for about 30-45 minutes at idle, and it overheated. Now, the engine will turn over, but not start. What possible damage could the overheating have caused? How much $$$ would it cost to have the broken stuff fixed, depending on what went bad? I could have it towed to Vince Layton for him to diagnose it/fix it if I can contact him. Would an engine rebuild be necessary, and what else could possibly have gone bad? (cooling system, etc)

Has anyone's 300d overheated, and what was needed to repair it? Thanks for your input in advance, I might buy this due to the rarity of the coupe version if the repair bill isnt too steep.

It idled for 30-45 minutes with no coolant? Why would it be idling for that long with or without coolant?

It's hard to say why it won't start or even that it's related to overheating. If it cranks, do a compression test.

The owner left it running outside for some reason, he was working on his bobcat in his garage with it running, not sure why... Thats when the rad. hose broke and the coolant leaked out.

I second the compression test. If the engine is shot haggle the price lower and drop in a used engine for $5-800
