Heater Valve Replacement - 240D
I found a thread on this last week, but can't seem to find it again, so sorry for the re-question:
My heater valve is leaking slowly so I bought a new one ('78 240D), and was wondering if there are any tips on replacing this? Is this just a simple remove/replace? Should I replace hose while I'm at it? Do I need to drain coolant, etc? I'm still new at the mechanic-game... Thanks for any info.

As I remember it was a straight forward job except for removing the cables, don't get in a hurry there. As to replacing the hoses, thats a personal choice, MB hoses last a long time, so if they look good reuse them, if you have extra $ replace them.

I answered my own questions this morning when I replaced it. It was very easy. I just had to WD-40 the old screws, and while they soaked, I had time to change the fuel filter. The heater cables were easy to remove, but harder to get back on. Needle-nose pliers worked great. Anyway, question answered, and thanks.

There was a thread some time ago about rebuilding them so I kept the old leaky one for a rainy day project.
