Your old 300D still pulls pretty good up to redline, especially with 80% WVO in the tank...bet that 325 will out run it though. I did a 60 mile Italian tune-up on my 240D with MMO in the fuel to fix a rough idle (just before the timing chain broke) and it ran much better afterwards. That said, I'll bet there are a number of things that you could break just from flooring a car that hadn't seen serious throttle in a few years. Change your filters first, check your linkage, then look at valves and chain.

Rich, you must have looked into this - how extensive a swap is a 1.9 TDI into a Vanagon? Sixto 95 S420 87 300SDL |

Well, she still is driving like a slug.
But I have a hard time believing that I did damage... no extra noise, still runs smooth, just doesn't have the power that it did... got new filters to install and diesel purge this week sometime when I can find time... thanks for the input folks, had to get away from it for a little while, really got me worried. doggone it, I sure love that darn car.... ![]()

4,800rpm is about all a 603 is good for. My IP cuts out at about that. As long as the engine is under load rpm's won't hurt anything. I love the way a 603 sounds at 4,800 what a sweet scream! At 3,500 they do pull strong.
On the parkway a couple of weeks back I got on at the bottom of a steep hill. ![]() Turbodiesel have you ran your E300D past red line yet? Thats just for show the IP cuts out just above. ![]()

The way I look at it the W126 at least in euro trim had 300hp, and was built for autobahn use. So a 150hp diesel isn't going to be able to hurt anything. Pull the valve cover if you think you hurt something,but I don't think you did.
