Dash Flaw Suggestions--See Picture

One of the previos owners of my 300TD decided to use molly bolts to attach one of those cheap digital clocks to the dash. So now I have two ugly molly bolts stuck in my dash (see picture), and the clock on the car works just fine. Any suggestions on how to get them out? Drilling them out would leave loose parts behind the dash and two holes. I was thinking about just making a little metal bracket and attaching a hoola girl or some kind of mascot to it. I would rather take them out and repair the holes. Any ideas.

thanks

If you want to splash stuff down into your ACC controls and radio go right ahead...one of the Idiot PO's screwed a cupholder into the center dash wood, and there was signs of long term stuff splashed down into the ACC and radio...najor sticky residue.

Cover it with something. A Mercedes medallion maybe?

I like the cup holder thought.

I don't know why anyone would put molly bolts into the dash. Double side foam tape would have worked nicely and would have come off.

Engraved name plate?

Seems like somewhere along the way, probably *bay, I saw a plate with the owners name as a part of the dash. I think it was on a ‘70’s 240D. I believe it was closer to the glove box somewhere. Adding your own name plate would provide the opportunity for the P.O. to be somebody famous, at least somebody famous and old enough to drive in 1982 when "they took original delivery of the car" (wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?).

Or…..figure out the name for your car, and badge her/him!

The person whho did that didnt even bother centering their attachment, so covering it up will require using somthing that is big enough to cover most of the markings and holes left behind.....

If your dash is cracking, you could get a new dash cap. Hit 2 birds with one stone- cover up the cracks, the scars from the idiot who screwed up your dash (no pun intended) and give your interior a facelift all at the same time.

I kinda like the Hula Girl thing! How about mounting a GPS or XM/Sirius satelite radio receiver there?
Or you can get a Coverlay dash cap for about $100. The link is:

Perfect place to mount an Adolf Hitler (or a Barney) Bobblehead.....if you can find one.

The PO who did that to the dash deserves a couple of the same kind of moly bolts in his forehead.
Hey on a positive note you can download your favorite smilie, blow it up with a photo chop program, then make a sticker big enough to cover the damage.
