urgent, help needed please

I am trying to replace my oil cooler hose(top). BIG PAIN 1984 MB TD.
I did get the old hose out but put the new one in has been

.I was wodering if I can replace the medal part of the hose with all rubber. Would that harm anything. Or is it do able. Please Help
