Cool going to pick and pull what do you need?

I will likely be hitting the junkyards/pick and pulls again this weekend looking for some random crap for the truck and Benz - if you live in one of those forsaken areas with out a lot of pick and pull action, let me know what you need and I will keep an eye out for it.

last weekend I managed to snag 2 300D and 2 diesel emblems. was slim pickens, but there is this one street Depot Street that has like 5 yards in a row.

if I can convince my boy to go with me I may even go to this Mercedes specific yard over in West Oakland.

If you ever spot one of those coupe W123 passenger door mirrors, please snag it for me. The 4 door flavor won't work, of course, making the coupe mirror a rare bird. Apparently the electric one is too much of a pain to deal with, and the manual one is simple. I have been looking for two years....

BTW have you done your SVO conversion?
I just completed a single-tank (which is all we need in this climate) WVO conversion on my 82. See my sig.
If you were interested to check it out, let me know. I've done a couple of them.

Jimmy Joe, i'll keep an eye out. i am llong for a sedan version and had no luck last week at Doris in Hayward.

veg_burner - i don't know the address - but basically you will see it if you look out the right window on bart into the city immediatly before the west oakland station. if you are driving - it is near the last shortcut on to the 80 before the bridge.

I'll have to peep my friend and get the address as google is not giving me any love. =/

oh haven't done the conversion yet. we'll see how bad the tax man spanks me first. i am going to go greascar kit i think. i may not always be in such a nice climate so might be best for me to do a two tank and run biodiesel in the non oil tank.

If you happen across some w126's get the usual as some of these babies sell like hot cakes on ebay:

-Plastic dash parts around the ignition key
-Vac headlight adjusters if there are any there
-Wood console pieces
-seat switches if they look good
-tach amp on the drivers fender (these things are like finding hidden treasures!)
-sun visors
-euro headlights
-monovalves
-aux. pumps
-antenna motor/mast setups
-always paw through the trunk...never know what treasures lie there
-tool kits

Personally I need the plastic piece around the ignition key and also maybe some tan sun visors if you can find them. If you can find a turbo diesel emblems dad will like one for his truck when he drops the volvo I-6 turbo in there I could also maybe use a tool kit if you happened across one and for whatever CRAZY reason didn't want it.

Thanks for posting your visiting the yard...its nice to spread the word

The plastic clips that hold the sun visors. Both of mine (gray) are broken off.

(1) If you see lighted sun-visor mirrors in palomino (this is all for a 1985 300D) I'd like a pair of those.

(2) Also the circular clip that secures the air/heat vent hose. Mine is broken on the passenger side and so the vent control is fallen back inside the dash somewhat...

(3) If you see a clean battery tray, I'd like to replace my rusty one.

thanks,

Gary

If you happen to find a palomino center arm rest in good shape from a 124, I could use one. Even if the arm rest is busted, if the MB TEX on it is good, I could so a skin transplant on mine.
Also, if you find visor mirrors for a 124, I need them for both sides (also palomino).

Forgive my total stupidity, but how exactly does a pick n' pull work? Do you just walk in and start digging? Or is there some methodry? What about payment ... do you just grab a bunch of stuff and get an estimate on it?

you walk in start diggin' and pony up for what you pulled at the exit. they've got a price list for most everything and whatever they don't they sort of make up. examples: turbocharger $50, seats $25 each.

Under the rear seat on a 124. The electric vacuum pump for the door locks.

I need the left (driver's side) dash trim piece in which the fresh air vent is mounted for a W201. Mine is black and cracked... it houses the switch for the rear dome light, too. I don't need the switch, and could re-use the swivelinbg vent piece if need-be. The one yard here that had a 190 crushed it (!!!) before I got to that piece. It's a little trick to pop out w/o cracking it, but it can be done.

Thanks a million!

If at all possible, a hood latch that'll fit a W123 with 4 screws that hold it on. Having the cable hook thing intact would be great too. I already have a new cable and handle for inside.

Thanks.
