Has anyone had the engine vibrate more after a mount change? About a hundred miles after I did mine it vibrated a lot worse at idle. I guess they finally settled down because now they're fine. I didn't notice much of an improvement because the ones that came out were still farely new. They'd only been compressed a quarter inch, if even that. I replaced them because I'm trying to chase down this extremely annoying vibration that I have at all speeds between 3000-3500 rpm.

1980 300 CD engine vibration transfer
Changed my mounts. Tranny mount seems good. Lots of engine sound and vibration coming through as if engine is sitting on the frame.????? i'd sure like to regain that great MB feel again.
Any thoughts???????? |
something
is not right. you will just have to get under it with it on a lift prob and have a good look. something is touching metal to metal for sure.
also could be exhaust. tom w |
Maybe
it's the engine dampner shocks. Looks like the rubber is gone. kits are available. I didn't think that would create so much trouble. i'll report.

more likely
to be the smaller ones as the big one is really stout.

Original Equipment Manufacturer. The original manufacturer of a hardware component or sub-component. Have a great day. |
The genuine engine mount I had installed about a year ago on the exhaust side has failed. It started banging when engaging gear, then one day there was an almightly bang and the whole car started shaking like a dog.
So even the genuine ones can fail... |
Question
Was it oil soaked?
Generally the exhaust side mount dies due to the turbo oil drain tube leaking. |

Here is the engine mount that I pulled out of my car on the drivers side, next to a new one.
