Unhappy Must Sell 1979 300sd......now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have posted this car a couple of times before saying that this car might be for sale. Well, now it is. the hard part i am having is coming up with a price and i am looking to all you to assist me in coming up with a price.

i am the 54th owner. i bought the car from a little old lady about 4 months ago. i have fallen in love with the car, but the reality of the situation is that in october of last year my father was diagnmose3d with terminal cancer and he needs all the financial help that he can get. so at the risk of boring all yall with my personal problems i will just say that i love my father more than i could ever love a car.

The car:

i will post a pic at the bottom of thei post of the car. as i said its a 1979 300sd, silver the car has 224000 accurate miles on the odometer. the car was taken 18 mos ago to a jiffy lube and they left the drain plug out. everything and i repeat everything under the hood was replaced 18 mos ago.
this car is is unreal condition, everthing works. not a shread uf rust on it. as i said i am having a hard time placing a value on it.

I feel that it should bring 7000.00 to 10000.00 but thats just my guess based on what i have seen around the other sites that i have looked on. i have a whole folder of pics that i would be glad to emal. if you or anyone you may know is interested please please get in touch with me.

and if you can confirm or deny the price range that i have come up with please let me know.

thanks in advance for all of your help.

You can't get better photos on Mercedes-Shop.

You would need to post the photos on the web using a server outside of Mercedes-Shop. Then you can link your message to the photos and the photos can be much larger.

I purchased a 79 300sd last August that looks exactly like yours. It had 242k on the odometer. During the 4 years before I bought it the previous owner spent $50,000 on a total renovation. I realize that is hard to believe (in fact I did not believe until I saw the reciepts) but I do have all the reciepts from the time the car was new. The renovation included:
new MB crate motor, transmision, dash, carpet, restuffed the seats, and a $25 paint job (took the whole car down to metal and repainted as it came from the factory.) Everything works as when it was new.

I have never seen a better looking old diesel

To make a long story short I paid $7500, It looks like your car is compariable to mine.

I just got a digital camera, I will try to post pictures of it

You can probably pull 7K+ on E-bay. I would spend a few dollars to have a real professional looking series of pictures taken. A photographer from one of those local sell-car magazines might be able to snap some real nice pics for you. Use some of the hi-zoot E-bay tools to make the ad stand out. Look at other ads, print out some descriptions of similar cars and work out you ad ahead of time. Do a good and careful job and you will get some action. Set your reserve and say about 6500~7000, start the bidding at about 2500 or so, run the ad for 7 to 10 days.
I recently bought a nice Jag on E-bay. It should have gone for 5500~8000 but I got it for 3500 mostly because the ad was really poor. The car is much nicer than the ad let on. E-bay sucks most of the time but it is a pretty good tool for selling these unique cars of ours.

Take it for what it's worth, but the rally sport whateverthehellitis steering wheel is a big detractor to your interior. Based on the pics I see here I think $7K is a lofty goal, and about $2K more than what I would guess it would go for...

You should put it back on. That car is too nice to have that flea market steering wheel on there. It is nice, just not on that car.
