Talking 300k300d

O.K. So I bought an '82 300D with about 300k miles on the clock. She runs very well, now that I've adjusted the IP Rack Dampening Screw, fixed the turbochargers oil return tube, new starter, alternator, shocks, etc., and etc.

Now she flies off the mark, I can even beat my sisters camero... the turbocharger will spool up immediately from a dead stop and really throw some gravel.

Besides the cosmetic work, all she now needs is a/c work. Everythin seems to be in order... and it has a proper freon charge. If it's hot and humid, durring the day, she barely blows cool, but at night she will freeze me out. Also it will only blow cool if the thermostat wheel is set on c22 degrees C?

I look forward to your replies.

You need some checks, to see if there are bubbles in the system. Look at the sightglass on top of the dryer with a small flashlight (new LED pen lights are great for this). A shop would do a pressure check and a leak
test. You say you have a proper charge, is it still without loss of freon? You may have a slow leak.
I recommend keeping R12 if it hasn't been converted to 134A. If you have 134A you will see a blue cover on the shrader valves, and there should be a sticker that indicates the type of refrigerant. 134A can work wwell but its likely you will have to go to a parallel flow condensor.
The system should blow cold on a hot summer day if set up properly. If the hoses are leaking there are shops that can crimp new ends on new hoses, thereby making up new flex hoses attached to the existing rigid lines already on the car. Or you can spend $$ (maybe $1200?) and replace everything except the compressor. If your compressor is bad, I recommend only a new one, not a rebuilt one. YMMV.
