Valve adj.- hot or cold?

Getting ready to adjust the valves in my 85sd. Looks pretty straight forward, but I have not read anywhere if the valves need to be warm or cold. Or does it matter?
I haven't adjusted valves in anything since my volkswagen days, and they really needed to be done cold.

valve adjustment is done at ambient temp......but there are two clearances to use depending on just what that ambient temp is.

There are different clearances specified for a hot engine versus a cold engine. It does not matter provided that you use the correct clearance specifications.
According to the 617.95 service manual:
At 20 degrees C (engine cold): Intake 0.10mm, exhaust 0.35mm
At 60 degrees C (+/- 15 degrees) (engine warm): Intake 0.15mm, exhaust 0.40mm.

Okay, does anybody know the hot specs for 1979 240D?

Cold is .004 (intake) and .016 (exhaust)......

Gotta know the hot specs because am planning to do it at work tomorrow after 1 hr commute.
