Clear fuel line, from IP to sec. filter?

My fuel lines from the injection pump (3) are original, and was wanting to replace them.
I can not find a part number for the clear plastic line that goes from the IP to the secondary fuel filter.
Do I have to buy the clear fuel lines with fittings, (expensive), or can I get this in bullk and put my old fittings on the new line?
It doesn't look like it would be that hard to do.
(Both cars)

Call Phill at fastlane...the entire set of clear lines with fittings was like $39 last fall when I replaced mine.

Why get the lines with fittings when the line should only cost a few $$.
There is no major pressure on these lines, what's up with this?
Is there an alternative replacement, these lines do not have to be clear.

I did a search before I posted this ? and did not find anything on this subject.

you have the possibility of sucking air as well as leaking fuel...either will cause you big problems. You might be able to jury rig something...but why not get the corect hoses...they lasted 20+ years so far....I doubt you will have car in another 20+ years. Anything else will not last near as long.

These are cheap....anything else would be false economy IMHO.

I recently replaced mine with regular 1/4" fuel hose and clamps. So far, so good.

I found fuel line

I went to an Injection Pump repair shop and they sell fuel hose for Bosh pumps.
I got enough to do both of my cars.
The same stuff that is used for the nozzle bleedoffs, only larger.
He says this is the best you can get, and used on Bosh systems, and no clamps need.

Made by Contitech (Germany), the tag had a part # of: 24 29007 000, 6X2,5.

May be the same hose that Fastlane sells?
Fastlane Part #: 4L300-10810 or 4L300-10812, but NOT SURE about this, you will have to check and see.

Clear fuel line? Way cool.

Never heared of this before. With a clear filter is there a real use for this and does it stay clear over time? Any downside to this?
This must really stick out when you open the hood, I like it.
Yes, another repair I must find a reason for.

Don't know if mine is clear but I like clear lines as they are great for visually assessing air intrusion. Lots of diesels have sections of clear fuel line for inspection for illegal use of offroad (dyed) fuel)

russb,

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If it is fixed, don't break it by trying to fix it.
