the car is '92 300sd.

Is the shift lever loose? There shouldn't be much fore-aft play. Try starting in neutral. Hold the key in start and move the level a little forward and aft of N. Don't put it in R or D!

dunno,

Connect a wire from the + terminal on the battery to the small terminal on the solonoid. This should cause the solonoid energize the starter. NOTE, Make sure the shift lever is in Park.

If the solonoid and starter work using the above test, your problem is in the nuetral switch, key switch or wires/connections.

If nothing happens using the above test, starter, solonoid or high current wires/connections (including ground connections) could be bad.

When I had a similar problem on my SD, it turned out to be the chassis-engine ground. The exhaust bracket the grounding strap was attached to was loose. (2 starters later ) There is only one strap. Check the simple things first because I think there have been several others here with similar symptoms.

I just tried to start my 1994 s350 and just like dunno said it there is no click or sound, the car just wont start.

Called my electrician on the cell, and he told me it might be some kind of a neutral switch.

P.E.Haiges, where is the solonoid placed at?

SD Blue, you mentioned the chasis-engine ground. Where is the exhaust bracket/grounding strap located?

Thanks
