E.T.R. Switch or Evaporator Temperature Switch
OK, final stages of rebuilting this AC. The story so far: Replaced compressor (massive leak around outer seals), replaced condenser (leaks at two U joints), replaced drier, replaced expansion valve, flushed system, and vacuumed down. Has been holding vacuum for 30+ hours. Am waiting for the R12 to arrive.
I have not been getting power to the low pressure switch on the drier. I am getting power to one side of what I thought was the E.T.R. switch. See pic. 1 for location, but no power to the other side of the switch. So I bought an E.T.R. switch as shown in manual. See Pic. 2. But I seem to have an Evap. Temp. Switch instead. See Pic. 3. The switch in my car has two blade type connections for the wires and not the 2 prong round connections of the E.T.R. Fastlane shows both types for this car. Am I missing something?

Mercedes nomenclature is confusing here. For the position shown in picture #1, you want the "evaporator temperature sensor" shown in picture #3. It's really a switch.

"Has been holding vacuum for 30+ hours."--- Rockinwagon
Now that is the kind of test every DIY ought to be using... I can see a shop having to rush... but that would save a lot of ' do over' if everyone followed that example. |
